10.2 - Packed with new features

On August 6th, 2004 we began shipping our latest release of MPanel software—Version 10.2.  This release is packed full of new, useful tools that assist a user during the design and refinement phases of your manufacturing process.  Some of the enhancements include an expanded Model Builder section, better ways of working with 3D polylines and a fantastic new option for projecting curved items directly onto your mesh.  This opens up entirely new opportunities and possibly even new markets for you to sell your products into.  (Be sure to read below for more details on all of the new features.)

All MPanel customers with a current Support and Maintenance Agreement should have already received this update via a support team email.  If you did not, please contact us through any of the means at the bottom of this document and we will expedite it to you.  If you are currently evaluating MPanel and would like to try the new version, simply send us an email with this request and we will be happy to send you an update for your demo.

To better illustrate some of the features in MPanel v10.2 we have also created a new tutorial drawing. This was not included in the update, so if you would like to refresh your own skills or if you need to train a new staff member and want to use the latest tutorial, please download it from our website by clicking on this link: MPanel 10.2 Tutorial Drawing

So  what’s new?  Please read on……..

New Model Builder updates

Several new options are now available to MPanel users at the Model Builder level.  We have included the ability to draw a new 3D Polyline object, create a new Edge Mesh, draw a Corner Mesh or create a Sail and/or Cone Tent all from a single location, selectable at the options level.

An expanded Cross-Section tool

Already a powerful component, the MPanel Cross-Section tool is now even better.  We now have the ability to use an arc or a curved object as our reference.  This feature makes it possible to now transfer designs and logos or even text directly onto a mesh.  Imagine being able to add a custom graphic to a structure and then be able to panel it out and manufacture it in different colours or materials.

Fantastic control over 3D Polylines

Renumber the amount of nodes on any 3D poly!

Our new Convert tool offers our users ways to work with 3D Polylines that were not possible before.  Now a single click can Join, Renumber nodes or convert standard AutoCAD objects like lines and arcs into a 3D Polyline.  We can even control Grouping of converted meshes to make handling of multiple items simple.  This feature alone can cut hours of design time from a large project.
